If you have been wanting to cover discoloured teeth, damaged teeth or gaps in your teeth, then veneers could be a good option for you. Our team at Chelsea & Fulham Dentist is highly knowledgeable about veneers and the process that is involved, so you are sure to be in good hands throughout.
An introduction to veneers
Veneers have been around for a long time and are aimed at helping people who struggle with a range of dental problems such as discoloured, damaged or gapped teeth. Veneers are tooth-shaped pieces of porcelain that we can attach to the front of your natural teeth to cover the imperfections previously mentioned. Your veneers will be custom-made just for you, taking your face and mouth shape into account to give you the most natural outcome possible.
Our process
Consultation
If you’re interested in getting veneers, then the first thing to do is contact us for consultation, as this allows you to get all of the information about the treatment, as well as ask our dentist Chelsea any questions you may have. We will also examine your teeth and take scans so that we can get a good idea of what your needs are and determine whether veneers are right for you.
If we think veneers would be a good treatment for you, we can then go on to determine how many you need. The number of veneers you can get is up to you; there just has to be enough enamel on the teeth being treated for the veneer to be attached. So whether you’re looking to cover up a single tooth or a whole set, veneers can cater to this.
Improving your veneers
Before our dentist Chelsea permanently attaches your veneers, we may first have a temporary set of veneers created. This set can help to give us a good idea about what your veneers should look like and allows us to make adjustments if needed. Having these temporary veneers on will also give you an idea of what your permanent veneers will feel and look like once they’re on, which can be really exciting.
Attaching your veneers
When it comes to attaching your permanent veneers, the process is rather simple, and we can usually do it within one appointment. Our dentist Chelsea usually starts off by removing a thin layer of enamel from the surface of your teeth to allow space for your veneers, which prevents them from sticking out more than they should.
We will then use some dental cement to attach the veneers to your teeth and use a strong beam of light to harden the cement. After this, your veneers will be attached to your teeth, and it’s good to go! This process will be repeated until the correct number of veneers has been attached to your teeth. If needed, we can make minor adjustments to the veneers once they are on your teeth. If you take good care of your veneers, they can last for 20 years or more!
Taking care of your veneers
Once you have your veneers on and are enjoying your new smile, keeping them clean couldn’t be simpler. There are no fancy cleaning techniques or equipment needed to look after your veneers. All you will need to do is brush and floss regularly as you would with your natural teeth; it’s as simple as that!
