Can I eat while wearing this aligner?

You can but you also have the option to remove it!

Yes, Invisalign in Fulham is completely removable and so, you can take it out to eat food, brush your teeth and attend dental check-ups. This also allows you to eat a wider range of foods, without having to worry about them becoming lodged or stuck to the aligner.

However, once you have finished eating your meal before you place the aligner back into your mouth, you will need to brush your teeth to remove debris. This is important as not doing so can press food particles against your teeth and speed up the formation of cavities and gum disease.

How long is the treatment time?

That will depend on the issue being treated and how severe it is.

But, on average, most of our patients who use this aligner use it for between 3-6 months. For a more personalised breakdown of how long it may take to straighten your teeth using this invisible aligner, contact our team for a consultation.

Can it treat overbites?

Yes, it can but our team at Chelsea and Fulham will decide if this aligner is the most suitable way to do so in your specific case.

As is the way with most adult orthodontics, we will assess the severity and complexity of the overbite and will discuss with you the most suitable appliance for you to wear. Great stuff!

How do I keep it clean?

This invisible aligner is easy to clean; simply run it under a cool tap and, if there is debris on it, remove it with a soft-bristled toothbrush.

Do not use hot water to clean the aligner as it may cause warping and refrain from using mouthwash, as this can cause staining.

Will I need a retainer afterwards?

Yes, you will.

Even though this aligner is not a fitted brace, in order to keep your teeth in their new positions, we will provide you with a retainer to wear.

Remember, failure to adhere to the wearing of a retainer can result in your teeth moving back into their original positions, which can undo months of hard work and may make another set of orthodontic procedures necessary.
